Commuting tips and tricks Using bikes with alternative transportation

With the cost of gasoline rising higher and higher, it has never been a better time to get on your bike! Commuting by bike doesn't have to be intimidating. We've put together a list of resources to make it easier than ever!   As we continue to deplete our home planet’s natural resources, the cost of gasoline continues to rise. In the face of this impending reality, weekend cyclists all over the country are evolving as well, from recreational riders to full-blown commuters. Not only do bike commuters save money at the gas pump, and leave a greener footprint, they also lead a more healthy lifestyle. A study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control ranked bicycling as one of the best ways to reduce the risk of sedentary-related diseases like diabetes, heart conditions and some cancers. In fact, according to Bicycling Magazine, most new commuters can expect to lose 13 pounds during their first year of riding.

Another side benefit to getting out of the car is stress. Unlike the road rage that is so prevalent on the highways these days, riding a bike actually reduces stress levels and related conditions like anxiety and depression.
And don't forget about the benefits to the environment that are result of reducing your carbon footprint and riding your bike. The SFBC has a great article on the facts on the benefits of biking here:
